Vetta Sports is seeking dedicated and impartial individuals to join our team as Inline Hockey Officials. As an Inline Hockey Official, you will be responsible for maintaining a fair, fun, and safe environment for all players participating in our leagues. This involves learning and rigorously enforcing the rules and regulations of the game in an impartial and professional manner. You will also play a key role in keeping games under control and ensuring they remain on schedule.
Responsibilities:
Maintain Game Integrity: Actively work to create and maintain a fair, fun, and safe playing environment for all inline hockey players.
Rule Enforcement: Possess a comprehensive understanding of inline hockey rules and regulations, and consistently apply them impartially and professionally during games.
Game Control: Effectively manage game flow and player behavior to ensure games remain under control and respectful. This includes calling penalties, resolving on-ice disputes, and addressing unsportsmanlike conduct.
Time Management: Accurately track game time, stoppages, and ensure games start and end on schedule to maintain facility flow.
Impartial Decision-Making: Make unbiased and confident calls, demonstrating fairness and consistency to all participants.
Player & Coach Interaction: Communicate clearly and professionally with players, coaches, and Vetta Sports staff regarding rules, calls, and game situations.
Safety Oversight: Monitor the playing area for potential hazards and ensure player safety throughout the game.
Pre and Post-Game Duties: Conduct necessary pre-game checks (e.g., player equipment, rink conditions) and complete any required post-game reporting.
Qualifications:
Prior knowledge and understanding of inline hockey rules and regulations is preferred.
Experience playing inline hockey or officiating other sports is a plus.
Strong ability to learn and quickly apply complex rules.
Excellent verbal communication skills for clear instruction and interaction.
Demonstrated ability to make quick, impartial decisions under pressure.
High level of integrity and professionalism.
Ability to maintain control and composure in challenging situations.
Strong sense of responsibility and punctuality.
Physical ability to skate/move on the rink and keep pace with the game's flow.
Availability to work evenings and weekends as league schedules dictate.
Must pass a comprehensive background check.
Working Conditions:
Work primarily takes place indoors on inline hockey rinks.
Requires standing, skating, and quick movements for extended periods.
Exposure to varying noise levels and game intensity.
