Camp Counselor

Vetta Sports is looking for enthusiastic, energetic, and responsible individuals to join our team as Spring Break and Summer Camp Counselors. In this role, you will be instrumental in providing fun in a structured and active environment for children aged 5-12 years old. Our camps are more than just soccer; they are multi-sport and activity programs designed for diverse interests. You will be responsible for leading a group of campers, organizing and facilitating various activities, and maintaining a consistently positive attitude while contributing to the overall team atmosphere at camp.

Responsibilities:

  • Group Leadership: Directly supervise and lead a designated group of children (ages 5-12) throughout the camp day, ensuring their safety and engagement.

  • Activity Organization & Facilitation: Organize, set up, and lead a wide range of multi-sport games (e.g., soccer, basketball, dodgeball) and various other camp activities (e.g., arts & crafts, team-building games).

  • Structured Fun: Implement daily schedules and activity plans, ensuring a balance of structured play and free time that promotes development and enjoyment.

  • Positive Role Model: Serve as a positive role model for campers, demonstrating good sportsmanship, respect, and enthusiasm.

  • Behavior Management: Effectively manage camper behavior with positive reinforcement, redirection, and adherence to camp policies.

  • Safety First: Prioritize and ensure the safety and well-being of all campers at all times, adhering to Vetta Sports' safety guidelines and emergency procedures.

  • Team Collaboration: Work collaboratively with fellow counselors and camp leadership to create a cohesive and supportive team environment.

  • Communication: Communicate effectively with campers, parents, and camp staff, providing updates and addressing any questions or concerns.

Qualifications:

  • Previous experience working with children aged 5-12 in a camp, recreational, teaching, or childcare setting is highly preferred.

  • Knowledge of and enthusiasm for various sports and recreational activities.

  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to lead groups effectively.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • A consistently positive attitude, high energy level, and a strong sense of responsibility.

  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team and adapt to changing camp needs.

  • Ability to maintain a fun, active, and safe environment.

  • Must pass a comprehensive background check.

Working Conditions:

  • Work primarily takes place indoors on sports fields/courts and activity areas, with some potential outdoor activities depending on the camp program.

  • Requires standing, walking, running, bending, lifting light equipment, and actively participating in games and activities.

  • May be exposed to varying noise levels and active environments typical of a youth camp.

Employment classification
This is a part-time, hourly position requiring approx. 15–20 hours per week.
